Karuah, from Avalon on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, now residing in the hinterland of Byron Bay, has found a piece of paradise to continue creating. Coining the genre ‘Ethereal Folk’ he indulges the listener through an almost meditative journey with hints of Bon Iver, Ry X and Ben Howard. 

Karuah began writing and performing since the age of 13 and over the years has shared the stage with the likes of Angus and Julia Stone, Ocean Alley, Lime Cordiale, The Rubens, Kyle Lionhart, Iluka and The Veronicas, to name a few. Mainly performing to small intimate audiences where the listener can truly ‘drop in’, Karuah has headlined tours of Australia with his previous releases ‘Wildplum’ and ‘Insight’. 

Poignantly capturing the essence of Karuah’s personal and creative experience that has evolved over the last decade, debut album Soft Light, explores the nuances of being an artist. Balancing family, work, and creative peregrinations, Karuah delves deep into vulnerable terrain of intense passions, unstoppable love, and ever-present self doubt. A delicate balance between moving lyricism and emotive sound scapes evoke states of reflection, an element that Karuah sees shape his songwriting dramatically. Moving between deeper and darker thoughts to ecstatic states of bliss, Karuah stays true to his inner journey of creativity all the while throwing away the cliche’s.
